The Association of Academics (BHM) of Iceland went on strike Thursday April 12th. The most important demand is wage compensation for higher education. Our Icelandic colleagues in Félagsráðgjafafélag Islands is one of the Unions in the BHM Association.

So far 560 members are on strike. The strike will be widened on Monday April 20th. Thursday April 16th all state employed Social Workers will strike from 12 to 16 o’clock to protest against the Icelandic government’s refusal to listen to the demands of the Association.

The Norwegian Union of Social Educators and Social Workers (FO) greets and supports our striking Icelandic colleagues, and wish you all the best in this important struggle for salary for education!

Regards,

Mimmi Kvisvik Forbundsleder
